We started out cooking for Rapides High School with fund raisers, then helping Mr. Buster West with his cook outs. 

Ottis Monroe (the man in the picture at the top of the page), learned so much from him.  We were cooking down town for a group one night and we looked at each other and we knew we had to make a decision about where we were going with this cooking.  

We became official in June of 1999.  We moved early spring way back in the woods.  People would come to visit and said we had to pipe in daylight.  That is how we got our name, "Back Woods Catering." 

I know some people will not look at us because of the name.  I guess they think we will serve road kill, or something.  Then others think we can only BBQ, or Fry Fish.  

We served 1000 working men on a construction company fried fish and trimmings in 65 minutes.  We do that real well but there is more to the story than that.  We have catered weddings from 50 to 350 guest, with no complaints. 

We are here whatever your needs may be, from large to small we cover them all. We supply simply good food! ~  Kathy Monroe
